Sewing clothes, help ie. size???

cant find any good video tutorials. i found a video where someone turned an old t shirt into a hoody. the video was too vague and short to work out the exact steps. before i get a sewing machine i want to know more about the process and if i can learn it. really want to know what to do as if i had purchased new fabric and was working from scratch. t shirts hoodies and jackets. any help would be appreciated. i am surprised to be asking cos i usually find these answers from the net but i must be looking in the wrong place.

What you really need is a good, basic sewing book. Something like Reader's Digest sewing book or Simplicity's Simply The Best Sewing Book or any of a number of other titles. Almost any public library will have a number of basic sewing books. Or check for a copy from a used book store; I've picked up copies of the RD book for $2 or less.

Basic sewing isn't difficult, but the more precise you are, the easier it is. Sloppy fabric cutting leads to sloppy sewing results, guaranteed. Once you've gotten some of the basics down, pretty much the sky is the limit.

There's a book called 108 WAys to REcycle a Tshirt (or something like that) that gives a bunch of different options, but I'm not entirely sure of what you are asking so I hope that helps.
