Make sure Firefox is your default browser. In the start menu, there should be something that says set program defaults and access... and make sure Firefox is the selection for Internet. You can also access this thru the control panel, then thru add/remove hardware, you will see the setting program defaults icon on the left.

do you already have firefox installed you must do that before you remove IE or you wont have a browser to use to access the net
then you have to delete your IE from your pc and use firefox exclussively i do and have no problems with it at all email me if you need help in uninstalling IE
